CM Punjab Free Wheelchair and Hearing Aid Scheme 2026: How to Apply and Who Qualifies

The Punjab government has launched a free assistive device programme under which persons with physical disabilities and hearing impairments can receive free wheelchairs and hearing aids through the Social Welfare Department. This initiative is part of the broader Disability Support Programme of Punjab and is being administered through district Social Welfare offices across all 36 districts.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be a resident of Punjab with a Punjab CNIC address
  • Must have a certified disability — verified by a government hospital's medical board or district Social Welfare medical officer
  • Income must be below the poverty threshold — priority is given to applicants who cannot afford devices privately
  • Must not have received the same type of assistive device from any other government programme within the last 3 years

How to Apply

  1. Get a disability certificate: If you do not already have a valid disability certificate, obtain one from your district government hospital's medical board. You will need this before applying for the device.
  2. Visit the district Social Welfare office: Bring your CNIC, disability certificate, two passport photographs, and a proof of residence (utility bill).
  3. Complete the application form: The Social Welfare officer will assess your specific device need during the application.
  4. Medical assessment if required: For hearing aids, an audiogram may be required from a government hospital's ENT department to determine the appropriate type and strength of device.
  5. Device distribution: Approved applicants are called for device distribution on scheduled dates. Distribution is done at the district Social Welfare office or through special camps organized in the district.

Online application is available through mkb.punjab.gov.pk for initial registration. However, the final process including medical assessment and device fitting requires an in-person visit to the district office.

Is there any cost for the wheelchair or hearing aid?

No. The devices are provided completely free of cost to eligible applicants. There is no registration fee, application fee, or hidden charge of any kind.

My child has a disability. Can I apply on their behalf?

Yes. Parents or legal guardians can apply on behalf of minor children with disabilities. The parent's CNIC and the child's B-form are required along with the child's disability certificate.

How long does it take to receive the device after applying?

Processing time varies by district and current demand. Typically, approved applicants receive their devices within 4 to 8 weeks after approval. The Social Welfare office will contact you when your device is ready for collection.
